Just have to keep trying, it's weird. I kept getting messages from friends on Google+ and when I would try to accept the invite, it would give me the error you describe. Later in the day or the next day or something it just let me in when I tried it once. No big message about "hey you can do it now", it just worked one time. *shrug*
