As a licensed pilot, I'm not sure how it would even be possible to
privatize something as large and complex and the national airspace
system.  Then again, the Internet is large and complex and seems to be
getting along okay without a lot of government controls.  However, in
aviation, people's lives are at stake so the rules and regulations are
all there for specific purposes.  Some air traffic control towers are
privatized, but they all follow the same rules and are inspected,
certified, and overseen by...  you guessed it, the FAA.
