What are the benefits? How would they compare to what I currently have? ;-)

No, I'm not talking about the song, rather what I just had to go through.

We're hiring for a Network/System Specialist here. The listing is pretty
specific - at least 2-3 years experience, work with Windows Server 2003,
maybe 2008. Need to have desktop support skills, some SQL and preferably
reporting skills too... but mostly server and infrastructure related stuff.

I just finished my first phone screening. Part of it includes a self-rating
of skills on a scale of "nothing at all" to "expert." I'm on the phone with
an A+, CCNA, MCP, MCSD certified person with 10 years experience in the
support industry. When I asked him the first one, "Windows Server 2003" he
said, "I haven't really done much with servers..."

I went through the rest of the phone call with "Looser" by Beck going
through my head. The only thing the guy had skills with was desktop support
and office applications.

Where's a wall? I need to bang my head against it! Oh, and in case anyone
is interested in working in a northern suburb of Buffalo (Amherst, NY), let
me know and I'll forward the job listing your way!

Hatton
