It is very sad. I was actually surprised when CF got a passing mention in a web dev class 2 years back.
The school has two server side web dev classes. The two languages used ... ? PHP and .Net. Adobe needs to get on the phone and get colleges to use CF in their RAD classes, or something. That is one of the features CF claims over the others, right? Adobe are in a tough spot to begin with. LAMP (and friends) makes getting into PHP easy. .Net is in everything Windows and is backed by Microsoft. If MS wants something out there, it will be out there. Hell, they have never given up on FrontPage. Adobe needs to cater to one group with an eye towards the other. Throw CF Builder and CF Server at colleges, universities and trade schools. Let them build a group of converts on Adobe's behalf. Then make sure business are aware of CF and what it can do for them. When Joe College graduates, the two will be ready to go. Actively unload CF Server Developer Edition on any web dev firm that will take it. I know it isn't that simple, but come on, it's almost like Adobe doesn't care. I wonder if Adobe are used to having a bunch of products that everyone in the world already knows about and aren't sure how to market something like CF.
