I chalk it up to adrenalin rush. They go through a range. They are first excited to see someone tasered. When that dosen't work, they are like holy crap! Then, bam. It was a little unexpected. They spend the rest of the time between omg can you believe that?!?!? to WTF did they have to shoot him? Get an ambulance.
I have this image in my mind of a bunch of chimpanzees being overly excited when something unusual and very interesting happens.
