The problem for the govt is not access - they simply tap into the backbone and grab everything - the problem has been crunching it. With things like Hadoop, etc that's getting easier.
Basically we are no longer in a democracy; elections don't matter for us non- plutocrats - the policies will say the same toward us, only the marketing changes.
