As usual, Jerry picks up whatever sounds most hateful from the right wing
blogs and posts it without question. Brilliant stuff, Jerry.

So, according to actual news reports and interviews with the guy, here's
what seems to have happened.

The food vendor in question, Mr. Tarver, was not attacked, nor was his food
cart attacked. Rather, his catering set up was in the tent that collapsed.
Obviously, when a tent collapses, the stuff underneath it get's squashed.
That is what happened in this case.

The cause of the collapse is disputed with AFP claiming it was either union
protestors or occupy/anarchist folks. People on the outside claim that the
tent came down from inside. No complaint has been filed with the police
yet, so no investigation has been done. AFP acknowledged that some of
people that helped them out when the tent collapsed were union members.

There is also a complaint from Mr. Tarver's wife (who is an AFP supporter)
that some people in the crowd said racially abusive things to Mr. Tarver.
This seems to have been backed up by witnesses.

So there is a dispute about why the tent collapsed. When it did collapse,
some members in the crowd jumped in to help out. Others, it seems, were
really jerks about the whole thing and were horrible to Mr. Tarver, calling
him an Uncle Tom for having the temerity to be black and do catering work
for AFP.

So no one was attacked, it isn't clear who (if anyone) is responsible for
the tent coming down and there was some horrible people who verbally abused
Mr. Tarver. That's obviously unacceptable and needs to be condemned. As
far as I know, all the organizers have condemned it.

Now I'd love to see the crap about "union thuggery" stop and instead focus
on what did happen and how to make sure that future group gatherings can
prevent such incidents but of course that would be entirely too optimistic
to be real. Ah well.
