Maybe most Americans, but I am thinking of gamers. I don't think their memory is as short as you believe. As mentioned above, the bigger issue is price. With the PS4 coming out significantly cheaper than the xbox-1, it might run away with the show. A double benefit to the consumer: Saving money and sticking it to Microsoft.
