The WD devices, whether connected directly via USB3, or via ethernet, will lose their shiite (and their file tables and formatting) when they lose power while being written to.
(I've lost 4 drives in the past 12 months) If you do get one, get a small UPS that can add a few minutes of uptime in the case of a power loss.
