Whatever conferences Michael and I went to, we always invited anyone at the
conference to hang out in our room. We shared our food and it was bring your
own beer, and we talked code, politics and anything you could want late into
the night.

The first Community Suite took place during Devcon 2001, and it was really
an extension and a broadening of our usual hospitality. Like the Con Suite
at a science fiction convention, the Community Suite is a place with food,
drink and a quiet atmosphere, where community members can hang and take a
break from the busyness of the conference. The Suite is whatever you want it
to be. Come and browse through our CF_Library, if that's what moves you --
study for your certification exam at the conference or simply read for your
own knowledge. Join the CF_Fight_Club and go head to head with another
community member on one of the many games we'll have (thanks to Erika and
Philip for volunteering their gaming systems, and to Hal for the loan of his
projector). Or just sit back, relax, have a muffin or two, and join in the
banter (and hijinks) in between sessions of Devcon. Last year, people got up
to show off their code, give presentations and just let people know what
they knew. A lot of important talk went on in the Suite, and even more will
go on this year. The Community Suite is really a place where the community
can be -- well -- the community.

The Suite will be open from October 27 - 30, at the Walt Disney Dolphin,
Room TBA. We will be putting up more specific information very shortly,
including the room number of the Suite, so that there will be no questions
this year of people not finding the room.

So yes, Candace (and Paul and everyone else on the list), we hope you will
stop by and enjoy the Community Suite this year, and meet members of the
community face to face.
