Mike, I personally have a friend who was ripped off by a "greek gypsy" (not sure if that's the correct term - but she was from greece, and her family travels around ripping people off) for over $14k in 3 months. This included an engagement ring worth $6k and then a bunch of furniture, clothes, and whatever else he spent on her.
One day he woke up with the police standing over him and her crying saying that he hit her. He didn't know what the heck was going on, but by the next day almost everything in the house was moved out in a uHaul with nothing he could do about it. Technically the things she took were hers since she was purchasing things on a credit card that he was paying off for her right away "to help build her credit so they could buy a house together". He was totally set-up and didn't once question it while it was going on - he was just happy to be with such an attractive woman who treated him so nice. Ok, that's a very sad story, but my point is if this "krikey" was any good, that SUV wouldn't be that big of a deal, especially when all of your income is illegal (ie. no taxes). $15k to them is more like $30k to you. Not to mention that SUV probably wasn't even hers, but whichever guy's she's scamming at that particular time.
