What level of detail are you looking for? I can tell you how SSL works, what's needed, what benefits a CF coder will get (extra cgi vars). We have an extranet app where customers are authenticated by a client side certificate that we issued from our own Certificate Authority. Because there aren't any apps that will keep an eye on a site's availability when client-side authentication is used, I ended up writing a java utility that will.
I haven't had any experience using third-party (Thawte or VeriSign) certs though but I guess their enrollment process is similar to ours.... -----Original Message----- From: Judith Dinowitz [mailto:jdinowit@;houseoffusion.com] Sent: Wednesday, November 06, 2002 10:26 PM To: CF-Community Subject: Query: New Article for Fusion Authority I am looking for someone who is versed in SSL to do an article on how Secured Socket Layer (SSL) protocol, Trusted Third Party Digital Certificates, and Public Key Encryption work together. Does anyone here have the expertise, or could you point me to someone who does?
