Sometimes it pays to be press. I got this in my inbox:

MAJOR NEW TOY RECALL DATABASE TO HELP SHOPPERS AVOID UNSAFE HOLIDAY GIFTS FOR CHILDREN

NEWS ADVISORY//December 10, 2002///Just in time for the holidays, the nonprofit
SafeChild.net is launching on Tuesday (December 10, 2002) the most powerful search
engine available to parents and grandparents who want to avoid purchasing toys that
have been the subject of recalls by manufacturers or the U.S. Consumer Product Safety
Commission. SafeChild.net is a project of the nonprofit Consumer Federation of
America (CFA) Foundation.

The SafeChild.net Toy Recall Database goes far beyond what is available elsewhere on
the Web. Parents and grandparents who access the database-driven search engine will
be able to search for all recalls relevant to the age of a child, as well as by the
month and year of the recall, the name of the toy, the manufacturer and the type of
problem covered in the recall. In many cases, pictures of the toys in question are
available as a guide to concerned adults.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Even though the SafeChild.net Toy Recall Database is being launched
during the 2002 holiday season, it will be updated and available throughout the year
on a going-forward basis.
