Also it's often job threatening.  Any employee chatter about this kind
of stuff that does NOT go through official PR in most companies is
grounds for dismissal.  One reason for this is that such chatter can
come back later to haunt you in an SEC investigation.

My company (MetLife) recently demutualized ("went public") and we got
what seems like reams of information on proper conduct, what to say (or,
more specifically what to never ever say) and so on.  I would think
employees of any public company would be in the same position.
