Authorities asked the people who sold the small fishing boat to Scott Petersen, Laci's husband, to examine the boat. The former owner said there was some cement residue in the bottom of the boat which was not there when he sold it. Also, the wheels used to move the boat in and out of the water were missing. And, they found some full and some empty cement bags at Petersen's house, and also in a storage locker. Petersen says they were left over from a "home improvement project".
