gessh man that sucks.
I hate black ice many times when iwas a kid i would fall. Our steps were all
wooden so me and my sisters would be going to school and you would always
want someone else to walk first just in case it was icy. Many a time i fell
and busted my ass and cursed the evil ice.

Glad you are ok and think of it this way. With all those new even MORE
powerful Metal detectors going into airports you're going to have fun with
your metal ankle now, hip hip hooray!

Subject: Hello Again!

Okay, I'm back again. Nothing as dramatic as what I see happened to Mr.
Braver happened to me but I did just get home on Friday from a hospital
visit that started after I stepped on a piece of black ice while walking to
a trouble call and trying to turn my right ankle and foot into a modern art
project.

Here's the quote from the "short version" in my online journal:
"I was at work and slipped on black ice while going to a computer trouble
call at work. As I fell I heard 6 or 8 pops and looked down and saw my foot
sticking out at a very unnatural angle. I managed to get to the door where
the call was and pound on it. The guy came down and called the boss, who
told him to take me to NF Memorial. They admitted me for a dislocated and
fractured ankle.I went into surgery at 8pm and was out of recovery and back
in my room at 2am. The surgery took 4 hours and was more complex than the
doc initially expected. I now have two permenant plates in my ankle and
something like 9 pins."

"I was in the hospital from Monday to Friday and will be in a cast for 12
weeks. I might be able to go back to work and do light duty work after 3 or
4 weeks, but that's up to the doctor. For now, I have a couple of things to
take care of but the important one is to recover and be with my family. "

If you want to read the long version, take a look at
http://www.livejournal.com/users/g_angel.

I was coreected tonight, I don't have pins, I have screws. I also have good
pain meds!

As for my email address, it changed again. So has the BBS thing I was
working on. I'll hit that part later.

So I will also pass on my heartiest get well wishes to Ben. I hope his
hospital food tasted a lot better than mine! Now it's time to hop to bed,
prop the leg and let the Lortab's close the eyes!

Until Later!
C. Hatton Humphrey
