Well, it depends on how you look at it. If you believe that their failure to abide by the UN resolutions is in some way enforceable then what course of action does the world take?
The president of France has now said that they will veto any resolution that will allow a war with Iraq, not just the current one of the table. I hate war, I don't want to see people go through what men like my Grandfather had to deal with, or the more recent Gulf War vets, however it does at time become necessary to use force if no other means will work. Is it right, no, war is always wrong, ordering people to go kill other people is not right, however, if we do not at times choose this course of action, then things like what has recently happened in Afghanistan would not have been able to happen. Do you think the Taliban would have allowed the women to choose to not wear their burkas? Do you think Saddam is ever going to let the people of Iraq vote in a true fair election? Protest the government? Live peacefully? I don't, I think that his very existence is a threat to world peace, he has proven this once before by invading Kuwait, and during the Gulf war he actually ordered his army to cross into Saudi Arabia, where American Forces were waiting for him. In the last two weeks, they have found missiles, unmanned drones, and cluster bombs all banned by the UN, and many developed and purchased sense the end of the gulf war. Today they put two fighter jets in the air to check on an unarmed U-2 spy plane. If they have nothing to hide, why are they trying so hard to hide it? Without Military pressure nothing will progress, and if we do not intend to make good our threats which were passed unanimously by the UN in October, then why did we even bother? > -----Original Message----- > From: Kevin Graeme [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Tuesday, March 11, 2003 5:03 PM > To: CF-Community > Subject: RE: Freedom Fries anyone? > > 1.
