The amazing thing is not that someone would have a trailer hitch, but that it was confiscated as a weapon. I often fly with no checked luggage and I can easily see taking a short weekend trip and wanting to bring a moderate sized object to a friend of family member in another state. But then to get there and explain that TSA confiscated it could make the whole trip a frustration.
