not really Ben, It's safe cause parents esp mom are so attuned that they respond even to the minutest shifts in baby's breathing etc... there have been studies done on this.
Deanna, my advice is not to tell people you are practising the family bed because you will receive a lot of negative feedback. At some point though I do advocate "weaning" the child into their own bed or else you will go crazy from the need to escape from stimulation and get some private space. Plus remember that you need that intimate space for nurturing the couple relationship as well. Just my opinion. Deanna I hope you're feeling well and not too exhausted at this point.
