96 years is impressive - everybody has to go some time and she had nearly a century of vivacious living. I'd rather approach it as an opportunity to celebrate her life and work. Please don't take this as a shot or as flippancy: people deal with things all different ways. There are some people whose deaths I can just accept serenely. Others I can't. Isaac Asimov and Jim Henson are two examples of people that I felt hadn't lived quite full lives. They were taken by unexpected illness and much undone. It's almost a certainty that Catherine Hepburn would have never reentered public life. It's hard to see how she could have lived a better, more fulfilling life.
