These spams have been going around for quite a while now. I googled an
article about them a few months ago, apparently the guy sending them out
actually believes he is a time traveller and is sincere in his desire to
acquire the machinery.

He claims to have opened several interest-bearing savings accounts with
small denominations that will simply accumulate until he cashes them out
in the distant future.
