She's limited by Federal Law to campaign contributions of up to $2,000.
The way people like her get around the laws is by giving money to PACs,
which in turn take high-profile positions for or against particular
political issues.
As far as what these 'celebrity types' actually give, no one really
knows. There is no requirement that anyone reveal what causes they gave
money to unless they gave to a political candidate or claim a tax
deduction based on their donations.

I wonder how generously Madonna gives. Wonder if she would sell her
multi-million dollar house and and buy some split ranch for $150,000 and
donate the profits.
I REALLY hate when celebs sit there and ask you to give money and time
to organizations. Them donating $4,000 to a charity is like me dropping
a penny in the Salvation Army bucket and then wanting a humanitarian
award for it.
