Yes, they are.  Actually, I think the play lists are pushed as mp3s from a central server.  The DJs have little to no say in what goes on and are more just voices.

I heard that a lot of the ClearChannel stations come from remote "central studios" and are fed to their various cities for broadcast - automated playlists, etc. Hmmmph.
