Hmmm... so you're saying he can't use the word "soft"  I thought Microsoft had a trademark on "Microsoft", not "soft".

You have a problem with a person looking to make a buck from his own name?

You're right, he knew it might get someone's attention and he wanted to make a buck from it.  I don't have a problem with that.

The kid probably knew it would get attention. Are people so stupid to think
stuff like this doesn't go unnoticed?

What's surprising to me is how virulently angry you are with this kid.
It's not like he went around a neighborhood breaking car windows or
kicking dogs or something.  He's merrily tweaking a gigantic, clumsy
corporation to see what happens.  Why not?  Is Microsoft now an
untouchable, universally loved entity that no patriotic American should
dare make fun of?  Would you suggest we prostrate ourselves before our
right-honorable corporate masters now, or should we wait until it's part
      of the EULA?

Personally, I like the fact that he was able to not only elicit a
response from the Beast From Redmond, but also caused them to seriously
embarass themselves in the process, as they're currently trying to
extricate themselves from the whole brouhaha right now:

MS can throw their corporate weight behind fighting piracy and crackers
and virus writers all they want.  They'd also have a much stronger case
if "MikeRoweSoft" were actually, say, putting out an operating system or
an Office suite or an incredibly shitty web server, but even they
realize now it was a mistake to even bother with this.
