only the proper number was in there, so i din't think that was the
problem. however, i deleted it as suggested, and it now works as it
should..

Did you try the Tools->Options->Privacy->Saved Passwords->View Saved
Passwords option. Then delete the remembered wrong login, and probably
yours at the same time. That's usually solved the problem for me
before.
