unions get benefits of state/federal laws.
Separation of church and state, I'm all for it.

Personally I believe that marriage is a religious institution until the
state offers legal benefits for it - then it's a civil institution. I would
be happy enough see either gays right to marry or all have civil benefits of
marriage dissolved.
