I would agree with that. I was responding more to the first sentence than the rest. People say that we are in a field where things change rapidly. I really don't think that's the case. Syntax (languages) change, as does hardware changes, but the underlying concepts have not. Unfortunately most schools appear to teach to a "language" and most jobs hire for "the language" without taking into account general programming skill.
