Senior CF programmer here, living in SF.   It doesn't really cost me
more to live here than it did in my last location, however, here I
have 400 square foot studio apartment with one tiny window overlooking
an alley, and there I had a 4 bedroom house with 3/4 acre yard.

I haven't encountered an abundance of CF programmers here in SF,
although there are several extremely good ones.  They don't work
cheap, however.  That rate seems low to me, but I have a hard time
getting motivated to even wake up for an annual salary that doesn't
have 6 numbers to the left of the decimal point. YMMV.
