Independent Consulting Experience

1/2000 - Present
RentVillas.com
Camarillo, CA
RentVillas.com is a web site where one can search for and reserve a rental property in
Europe, book a caterer, and basically setup all their travel accomodation needs for
their vacation in one place. I am assisting this company by developing a functional
specification for their current web site and I will be rebuilding the entire site to
comply with the Fusebox methodology.

KineticTravel.net
Oakland, CA
This is my showcase success story web site of the YEAR! Over a period of several
months, I developed the functional specification for this web site, hired on several
contractors to assist with development, and tracked project progress with MS Project
throughout the development effort. The client created all the graphics and did most of
the code intergration with the graphics. This site is written entirely in the Fusebox
style. The site is still under development, but you can preview it today!

HR Advisors, Inc.
Laguna Beach, CA
HR Advisors, Inc. is an employee recruitment agency which specializes in placing whole
teams of workers for their clients. The company has a private extranet which is used
by hundreds of recruiters in the company. I assisted this company by developing a
functional specification for the system, fixing problems created by the previous (and
now current developers), and by adding on reports as requested by the client. All work
was done with ColdFusion.

CoolJapaneseToys.com
Oakland, CA
I assisted this company with a restructuring of the web site's security system and
with adding on a Forums system wherein users could share their experiences about toys.
All the work was done with ColdFusion. I also developed a functional specification for
this site with suggested improvements to the overall design.

BroForm.com
Newport Beach, CA
I assisted with the development of a shopping cart module written with ColdFusion for
this company's web site.

Maximum Coverage Media
(http://www.mcmtv.com)
San Diego, CA
I provided this company with 3 web site redesigns. The final approved design looks
very similar to this web site: http://www2.iok.net/. The design was never used, and
their public web site (http://www.mcmtv.com) which closed early 2000 remains closed to
this day. The coding was written with ColdFusion in a pseduo-Fusebox style.

Churm Publishing
(http://www.ocmetromag.com)
Newport Beach, CA
I created a "quizlett" module with ColdFusion using the Fusebox methodology. The
module can be called into any ColdFusion-based web site using CFMODULE. It features
three types of quizzes: true/false, yes/no, and multiple choice. Scoring is handled on
the fly so that the users get real-time results on the issues of the day.

JessePinkerton.com
Orange, CA
This site is work in progress. A friend of mine wanted a web site, so there it is. I'm
handling all aspects of development and my friend is handling content.

Anderson Unicom Group, Inc.
Yorba Linda, CA
I assisted with a conversion of ColdFusion code from Microsoft SQL-based queries to
Oracle-based queries, I converted the programming methodology from nothing to Fusebox
standards, and I optimized slow ColdFusion processes as a part of this 4-week effort
to improve the system.

Dautolink.com
Santa Ana, CA
I created the functional structure of this web site with ColdFusion in the Fusebox
style.

Fusioneers.com
Santa Ana, CA
I started my own company! Check out Fusioneers.com for more details.

FredAndersonForJudge.com
Santa Ana, CA
I created Fred Anderson's campaign web site for this year's judicial race for
California Superior Court. This website closely resembles print media that has been
sent out to targeted voters.

Some features of the site include a way to contact Fred Anderson via the web, a way to
collect contributions via the web, and the ability to RSVP for an event online.

Index Funds Advisors - Automated Risk Tolerance Quiz
(http://www.ifa.cc)
Newport Beach, CA
Mark Hebner is an index funds financial advisor. He is an author of a book on
investing, and uses his web site to screen potential new clients. The quiz he created
helps him determine what kind of portfolio to suggest to his clients.

Mark was overwhelmed with responses via a standard form-to-email program that his ISP
provided, and so he called upon me to automate the process of generating quizzes,
tracking users, and scoring tests.

The end result is a system that allows Mark to create quizzes using web-based forms
which he can then link to inside his web site. These quizzes offer up various types of
questions: multiple choice of varying lengths, and true/false scenarios. Each question
belongs to a category which has a particular weight overall in the quiz, and each
question has its own weight within that category. This kind of detail makes it
possible for Mark to create tests that are not "predictable".

The software itself could be applied to just about any kind of testing environment. If
you are in need of an automated online testing system, I can install and customize
this software for you.

Work Experience

11/99 - 1/2000
Good Products, Inc.
Tustin, CA
Lead Internet Applications Developer
Good Products, Inc. is a startup e-commerce company working off of venture capital. I
assisted in the development of a prototype web application whose sole purpose was to
secure additional funding from investors.

I wrote the functional specification, hired on contractors, and managed the project.

My assistance and careful planning reduced the time to launch by about 50%. The
project was then turned over to a staff of Java programmers.

7/99 - 10/99
Planet Media Corporation
(http://www.planet-media.com)
Orange, CA
Internet Applications Developer

My primary responsibility was to develop web applications utilizing the Cold Fusion
development platform. I offered brief assistance on many small projects, however I was
solely responsible for one of the company's projects, the ATL Lead Tracking System for
ATL Products.
ATL Products, Inc.

ATL Products, Inc. (a Quantum Company) sells tape library equipment and software for
midrange and mainframe markets. They have an extensive network of sales people, both
internally, through VARs and with partner companies.

I was tasked with the creation of a sales lead tracking system which would enable ATL
to efficiently track and route leads through their organization. The system contains a
complex set of configurable business rules, allowing administrators to customize
literally every aspect of their system. Based upon these business rules, the system
interacts with its users automatically to ensure that leads are handled according to
those rules.

I developed the functional specifications for this system based upon several
requirements gathering meetings. The final result was a document that is clear,
concise, and which reflects ATL's internal needs for lead tracking. Additionally, I
provided ATL with a project schedule created with MS Project detailing the tasks
involved in the project down to 2-hour increments, and I created detailed data-flow
diagram that the client used to plan integration with their existing data warehouse.
For internal quality assurance, I created a development test plan based upon the
specifications.

I developed the entire site according to the Fusebox methodology of coding. I utilized
an MS Access database during development, and upsized the database to MS SQL 6.5
before final testing and launch.

The entire project took about 412.25 hours to complete. Of those hours, only 3.75
hours were used for bug fixing.

Once development was complete and loaded onto ATL's private web server, I then created
training materials for their staff split into the various types of users (webmaster,
user, administrators, etc.). I trained about 15 users in a single meeting, and then
trained the administrators and webmasters separately.

12/98-7/99
Net Explorer, Inc. (Nuforia)
Irvine, CA
Lead New Media Developer
* My primary responsibility was the development of various web-based applications
utilizing the Cold Fusion environment for Net Explorer, Inc. clients.
* My secondary responsibility was the development of various internal web-based
applications utilizing the Cold Fusion environment. Some applications included time
tracking systems, LDAP connectivity, contact management, client procurement, and
numerous other work-flow and organizational tools.

Projects included:
Grey Interactive / Hasbro Toys
I created the Episode 1 version of this site: http://starwars.hasbro.com. This was, at
the time, my largest Cold Fusion application. The site was based upon about 300 pages
of documentation. Grey Interactive (http://www.greyinteractive.com) provided graphics
for the site in Photoshop format and directed the overall look and feel of the site. I
built the entire application with Cold Fusion according to the Fusebox methodology of
coding. I assisted with the graphics integration into the application along with Peter
McBride (a Net Explorer employee).

This site was a showcase for all of Hasbro's lines of Star Wars-related toys, games,
dolls, etc. It featured a searchable database of toys, a wish list where people could
keep track of toys they wanted, the ability to email their wish list out to friends or
family, a checklist where people could keep track of the toys they own, a
questionnaire with 5 types of questions that are configurable by the system
administrator, and a fairly extensive security system.

Unfortunately, the Cold Fusion - related functionality of this site is no longer being
used. It was a good lesson in politics though!
Cooper Cameron
(http://www.coopercameron.com)

I created an internal error/update reporting system that allows key personnel from
Cooper Cameron to login to a private extranet and report problems and/or content
updates regarding their public web site (web site maintenance is subcontracted to Net
Explorer, Inc.). The manager of web development is notified when a new incident is
entered. The manager then assigns resources to the task, and all communications
regarding that task are tracked. The client can check the status of the tasks at any
time and may add additional comments. This application has alleviated the problem of
multiple unorganized communications floating around the two companies and thus made
the task of keeping the Cooper Cameron sites up-to-date much easier.
Alpha Analytical Labs
(http://www.alphalab.com)

Developing in Cold Fusion, I created a file management system that enables Alpha
Analytical to allow their clients to download reports from a private site. Users are
verified with Oracle security. This was an unusual authentication routine for a Cold
Fusion application, and required a custom tag to trap ODBC errors that would have been
created with bad logins. Based upon the user's Oracle security privileges, the user
can search through a history of reports and download them. The download routine was
unusual as well because Alpha labs did not want to have to keep track of all the
files, but instead simply drop them all into directories named as the client id. At
the same time, Alpha labs wanted a friendly user interface rather than a simple
directory listing. The solution to the problem was created in utilizing their standard
naming convention and some Cold Fusion magic to search for file types in the directory
(cross referencing to a table in their database for file types) and display them
nicely.
