I was once working for a company (for 2.5 years) and the owner had no idea what I was doing there. The person in charge of the tech portion of the company knew why I was there and why I was needed. I was the team safety net. The programmers on the team would never have to worry about not knowing something or having a problem because they knew that if they could not figure a problem out themselves, they could come to me. I'd research anything needed, teach new techniques, and troubleshoot everything that had to be taken care of. This could be upgrading a site from NT to Solaris (ran like a charm), researching why a Netscape webserver was giving intermittent errors or just what's new in CF 5. When the head of the tech company left, the owner still had no clue about what to do with me and thought it better to drop me and my salary rather than keeping me on. The result was me doing freelance work, which is what I'm currently. This is where the problem comes up. Because I'm doing freelance work at a client site, I can't properly take care of the stuff I should be (such as when the mailserver blew up). For that reason, I'm looking to stop freelancing and get a normal 10-6 job. That being said, if anyone wants a very well positioned CF master for their company to mainly do the above mentioned work and some coding, please email me. I actually have a resume now that I can send around if need be, but I think my abilities and name speak for themselves. (yes, I'm allowed a little ego).
