Developer (Back-End)

Summary:

This person will be responsible for designing and developing Web applications, specifically database-driven sites. This includes all aspects of application and site development from the initial development to launch and maintenance of the site. This developer must be extremely detail oriented and must be willing to follow decisions established by the Development Manager on the project. Also essential is the ability to deliver quality, bug free, work on schedule, making efficient use of the budgeted hours. Candidates must be passionate about the Internet and be constantly researching and trying new tools and techniques. This is a full-time salaried position with benefits.

Responsibilities:

* Produce high quality, efficiently-coded web pages to be delivered by dynamic back-end applications.
* Work closely with production team (development manager, art director, designer, producer, back-end developer, production artist, web production coder) to ensure all work is completed o time, at spec, and at the high quality level expected at Martin Williams Advertising Inc.
* Full understanding of the technical vision of a project as defined by the Development Manager and execute on that vision.
* Religiously follow the FuseBox 3 development architecture.
* Assist in the development of model architectures.
* Evaluate and recommend new technologies for use in a project.
* Conduct QA and audits on specified projects assigned by Development Manager.
* Understanding the tactical coding tradeoffs related to coding for various server platforms, web browsers, presentation-layer standards, client platforms, etc. and make appropriate decisions and suggestions to relevant team members.
* Develop site templates based on application specification documents, wire frames and site design.
* Assess technical risks and prepare contingency procedures.
* Contribute to and maintain programming standards for Martin Williams Advertising Inc. and document reusable data structures, code snippets and functions to add to existing in-house library.
* Keep up with technological innovations and report research efforts to team.

* Meet project budgets and schedules for assigned tasks. Flag overages and scope changes in writing to the project manager BEFORE they occur.
* Meet or exceed code and server system performance metrics for established in technical specs of project plan and strategy docs.
* Zero known defects in delivered code.
* All code thoroughly documented using FuseBox standards
Billability
* Target = 90% (36 billable hours/week)
* Average work hours/week = 45
Required Qualifications/Skills:

* BS/BA in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience
* 3+ years hands on experience with Web programming
* Experience with Windows NT/2000/XP and/or UNIX (Solaris or Linux)
* Strong working knowledge of IDEs such as ColdFusion Studio, Visual InterDev or Dreamweaver MX
* Experience with several of the following front-end technologies: HTML, XHTML, DHTML, CSS, _javascript_, Flash, ActionScript, ActiveX
* Working knowledge of ASP and/or ColdFusion
* Strong experience with several of the following back-end technologies: XML, XSL, ColdFusion, ASP, VB, COM, Perl, PHP, Java, JavaBeans, C/C++
* Knowledge of basic relational database techniques as in MS SQL, Informix, Sybase or Oracle
* Solid experience with SQL, ODBC, JDBC, CORBA and other database APIs and a strong willingness to continually learn about data warehousing, data mining and analysis
* Experience in a production or team-working environment
* Must work well and communicate clearly with clients and other team members
* Ability to consistently meet deadlines

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

* Working experience with one or more application servers: ColdFusion, WebObjects, WebLogic, JRun, Net.Commerce
* Experience with several of the following front-end technologies: HTML, XHTML, DHTML, CSS, _javascript_, Flash, ActionScript, ActiveX
* Rich media experience: Shockwave, Director, QuickTime, QTVR, 3D Modeling
