Required Experience:
This position requires in-depth application knowledge, business acumen,
communication skills, decision-making ability, analytical problem solving,
self-motivation, business/industry knowledge, and client focus. It
typically requires 7 years database programming, analysis, database
management, or related experience. A strong Oracle background is a must. A
minimum of 2 years experience with triggers, stored procedures, performance
tuning, database design and implementation, and database administration
using Oracle's PL/SQL language is required.
Required Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent education in a
related discipline is required. Related work experience can be substituted
for education requirement.
Desired experience/skills:
Oracle administration and PL/SQL development experience, Sybase ASA
administration and Transact-SQL (T-SQL) development experience, EDI
development and processing experience, conversion experience from Sybase
ASA to Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database administration
experience. Visual Basic, PowerBuilder, ColdFusion programming experience
highly desired.
Job Duties:
The candidate will be responsible for the design, coding, implementation,
installation, maintenance, and administration of moderately complex
databases, query and stored procedure performance tuning, and validation
checks through constraints and code using the Sybase ASA and Oracle
relational database management systems (RDBMS). Migration experience from
Sybase ASA to Oracle as well as extensive database coding using
Transact-SQL (T-SQL) in Sybase ASA and PL/SQL in Oracle is required. The
candidate will also be responsible for light administrative duties using
Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
