Application:
Assume maintenance and enhancement responsibility for a ColdFusion
application my client is considering assuming. The application is partly
public on line but the major component is accessible by username and
password only. There are several links to other web sites/data bases for
information. The data storage components are unknown at this time but should
be made known soon. This is a relatively old application that currently
lacks business specifications.
Tasks would include:
1. Examine the code to determine technical tools and components utilized
2. Estimate amount of time needed to
2.1. Inventory code and components to confirm magnitude
of the application
2.2. Determine if the code it relatively well written,
easy to maintain, facilitates enhancement such as adding screens, interfaces
to other applications and data bases, etc.
2.3. Document the business functions so that future
enhancements can be properly defined and estimated prior approval and
implementation. A template for documentation will be provided the successful
candidate.
3. Implement ongoing enhancements
3.1. Modify specs for enhancements needed
3.2. Implement enhancements
3.3. Test thoroughly (you are quality control)
3.4. Roll enhancements into production
4. Provide on going maintenance and support for application
The application is in the lending field, candidates with experience in
lending are preferred.
To eliminate frustration between the client and the candidate, only
candidates comfortable with the following should apply:
� working with and maintaining business specifications
� Estimating work effort within 15-20% of actual
� Managing own time and delivery of project
All work will be billed time and materials not fixed bid.
This is a sub contract position. That is, Interactive Nova finds the
client(s), deal with all business issues with regard to the client including
billing, accounts receivable, project approval, etc. The roll of the
candidate will be technical only, see section on �Tasks� above. Therefore a
wholesale hourly rate will be appropriate, not a retail rate since most of
the marketing and administrative overhead is eliminated.
Time required: Currently thought to be 15 � 30 hours per week, obviously
this will be determined by the state of the application and the enhancement
needs of the client.
