Web Developer (RIA/ColdFusion/Flash) Reports to: Development Supervisor Effective Date: June 27, 2004
Position Summary: As a Web Developer at Olson you will be responsible for architecting, programming and maintaining Rich Internet Applications. You must have an eye for detail and the ability to execute strategy established by the Development Supervisor. Your goal will be to deliver on requirements, minimize bugs and complete work on time within budget. Responsibilities: * 65% Back-end development using ColdFusion MX, PHP and XML. * 25% ActionScript programming following AS2.0 guidelines. * 10% Server administration including Windows Server 2003, IIS, Apache, MYSQL and MS SQL. * Work harmoniously with project team including Development Supervisor, Front-end Developers, Designer and Project Manager. * Assist in outlining technical requirements and flag issues that effect scope to Project Manager and Development Supervisor. * Aid in writing usecase scenarios and conduct quality assurance testing as outlined by the development supervisor. Understanding of UML a plus. * Follow the programming standards of Olson + Company and document reusable code for addition to the in-house code library. * Research relevant technologies, suggesting their use on related projects and share finding with team. Essential Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or equivalent. * 3+ years related Web programming experience. * Understanding of Windows 2003/2000/XP and Linux (Red Hat/Fedora/Debian/etc). * Familiarity with Eclipse editor or alternatives like Dreamweaver or Ultradev. * Comprehension of front-end technologies including: HTML, DHTML, XHTML, CSS, AJAX, Flash and JavaScript. * Examples of ColdFusion and/or PHP, Java, ASP.NET applications. * Extensive experience with the Macromedia suite of tools, especially Flash and ColdFusion. * Solid understanding of relational database design and the T-SQL language including stored procedures, views, triggers and XQuery. * Strong communication skills both written and verbal. * Proven ability to balance multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines. * Demonstrate a desire to learn and accept new challenges. Desired Requirements: * An understanding of design patterns, model-view-controller and object oriented programming. * A portfolio leveraging Fusebox 4, Model-Glue or Mach-II frameworks for ColdFusion MX. * Examples of Rich Internet Applications using Flex or Ariaware Framework. * Working experience with Macromedia Remoting Gateway or OpenAMF. * Illustration of deploying applications to mobile devices via SMS, WAP/WML, Flash Lite or Java.
