Arnold & Porter LLP's Practice Technology Group in the Information Technology 
Department has an opening for an Application Developer - Applications 
Development Group in our Washington, DC Office. The Application Developer 
consults with department representatives to identify business processes that 
are candidates for automation via a custom technology application, particularly 
repetitive administrative procedures and paper-based processes, and recommends 
applications that can streamline these processes. Applications may include 
discussion databases, work product collections, document review databases, 
workflow/approval cycle databases, etc. The Application Developer is expected 
to become a lead developer at Arnold & Porter in applications and software 
developed to support the Firm’s Intranet and Extranets. This individual is 
responsible for the following: analysis, design, development, customization and 
quality control of custom applications to meet the needs of the Firm and its 
clients and integration and development of critical Firm systems using 
Microsoft SQL databases as back-ends and web-based front-ends/interfaces with 
programming in HTML, JavaScript, ColdFusion, Visual Studio.NET, VB.Net, ASP, 
CSS and DHTML. This person will need a thorough understanding of Software 
Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes. This individual must have good written 
and oral communications skills in addition to being a good "team player". The 
Application Developer advises team members on technical issues relating to the 
team's projects, approaches new needs or problems creatively and works with 
team members to provide effective applications and related support and provides 
quality customer service to all of the Firm’s staff and clients including 
direct end-user support in support of the Firm’s help desk.

Strong database design concepts specifically using Microsoft SQL Server.
Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, ColdFusion, ASP, CSS and ASP.Net (VB or C#).
Minimum of three years' experience in developing web-based database 
applications in a legal or corporate environment.
Four-year college degree.
Flexibility to work additional hours as necessary including weekends and 
holidays.
