Location Onsite in Boston, Massachusetts Company Description College Publisher is a hosted web application for college newspapers, owned by mtvU. Approximately 500 newspapers around the United States use the system, which generates hundreds of millions of page views and emails per year. Job Description The mtvU College Publisher software team is seeking a creative and experienced web application developer to join its seasoned team of web development professionals. This person will report directly to the Director of Online Development for College Publisher. The candidate will have a demonstrated mastery of web development theory with portfolio examples that highlight an array of skills and an understanding of web development best practices. Details Web application developers are responsible for assuring the accuracy and availability of highly scalable websites that are conducive to user interaction. These responsibilities include creating dynamic web applications utilizing ColdFusion and other programming languages and platforms, developing database procedures, and conducting application testing for quality assurance. Requirements ⢠Degree in Computer Science or related field ⢠3-5 years of experience designing, coding, testing, and implementing web-based applications ⢠Skilled in ColdFusion (MX 6.1 or higher) programming for web development projects, or, demonstrated absolute mastery of similar language ⢠Proficiency in HTML, CSS, XML, and JavaScript ⢠Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle ⢠Working knowledge of Apache web server. Advanced skills preferred. ⢠Expertise in Windows Server 2003 and other operating systems ⢠Understanding of C#, ASP .NET, web services, Subversion, and XSLT are preferred ⢠Linux experience ⢠Candidate keeps abreast of emerging technologies Personal attributes should include outstanding organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently to meet deadlines in a multi-tasking environment where priorities may change rapidly. Candidate should be an excellent digital problem solver. Position requires candidate to develop and design software solutions in order to solve complex problems or create complex features. Candidate should be able to make decisions based on past experience and utilize knowledge of current and emerging technologies.
