Well rounded developer needed to join an existing IS Department supporting law firm's technical environment. Developer will take over the maintenance and continued development of company web site and related projects. Developer will train on COTS and proprietary legal applications to support, maintain and further development and system integration efforts. 80% supporting existing development and 20% new development which would center around projects related to the firm's web site, marketing, blog, newsletter and Search Engine Optimization efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES * Development of Web applications or project services as assigned. * Creating, converting, and editing HTML, XML, ASP and .NET pages, ColdFusion, JavaScript * Support of all web application services, servers, databases and related technologies which are utilized by or integrated with the web environment * Support and maintenance of all company web applications and related services; Transact SQL query for adhoc requests and projects as needed * Support, maintenance and upgrades related to portal and service technologies in use by the firm. * Software and hardware evaluation and recommendation in relation to web projects, technologies. * Development of .NET and SharePoint related work as required * Identifies problems and learns specific input and output requirements such as forms of data input, how data is to be summarized, and report formats. * Reviews system capabilities, business workflows and scheduling limitations if in conjunction with assigned projects. * Creation and maintenance of all documentation related to systems and projects assigned to or worked on. * Development and maintenance of IntApp appliance, rules and all facets of systems integration that IntApp is being used for. * Prepares workflow charts and diagrams to specify in detail operations to be performed by equipment and computer programs and operations to be performed by personnel in the system * Provides assistance to the IS department on high level problem or custom development solutions * Managing/Maintaining Microsoft SQL databases: Maintaining SQL databases for all office and firm-wide applications. * Monitoring database logs, applying patches and hot fixes; creating, managing and testing database backup jobs; developing SQL scripts and stored procedures; creating/ maintaining systems documentation; and monitoring DTS packages for data exchange. * Custom Reporting and Query Development: Creating, maintaining and supporting custom reports, custom views and custom queries for all firm-related application software and systems. * Developing and updating, in cooperation with the various departments and practice groups site architecture, search and navigation capabilities and other programming functions. * Analyzing site traffic patterns and navigation capabilities for the purpose of determining possible enhancements. Recommends changes to the site and inclusion of new technologies. * Ensuring maximum visibility and accessibility of the site?s through strategic linking and meta-tagging, SEO techniques and social media. * Development of graphic and multi-media design elements for the sites in connection with firm sponsored projects and goals. * Adheres to departmental goals and firm-wide policies. Skills: * 3+ years program development in ColdFusion * 3+ years program development in .NET * 3+ years experience with ASP, HTML, XML, JavaScript * 3-5 years related experience with SQL Server Development ( Stored Procedures - TSQL ) * SQL Server Reporting Services, TSQL scripts, stored procedures, and DTS packages * SharePoint * Microsoft IIS * Visual Basic Client/Server programming * Previous experience handling application development in a Windows and web environment. * Project management skills (group organization, communication, material preparation, cost benefit and financial analysis). * Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and prepare administrative control systems for system applications. * Demonstrated ability to work with minimal direction. * Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts and baselines and draw valid conclusions from complex manuals, technical materials, and processes. * Documents all processes, program code, reports, and maintenance activities for each project. * Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. * Experienced in designing reports using MS SQL Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, or similar programs. * Experience with Microsoft Office 2003/2007 products, including Outlook and Access.
