Position 1:

Apex Systems is currently looking for a 
ColdFusion developer for a temp to perm opportunity located in Washington, DC.
 
Job Description
Candidate will join the team that enhances, maintains and supports the several 
web based applications for client and other Federal Agencies. Responsibilities 
would include adding functionality, coordinating environmental upgrades, 
provide customer support, developing and maintaining documentation, and serving 
as a liaison to vendors. Candidate must have proven experience of working in 
dynamic environment supporting multiple applications at the same time.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop, enhance, maintain, and support web applications. 
Coordinate testing the roll out of automation changes. 
Manage projects by following project management standards. 
Research technical issues and provide recommendations. 
Participate in business requirements analysis, software evaluation and 
selection, and application integration. 
Suggest ideas for improving efficiency. 
Provide application related training. 
Actively participate in workgroups. 
Participate in ad hoc projects and assignments as required. 
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Business and/or equivalent 
work experience.  5 – 7 years of relevant work experience in a high-paced, 
enterprise environment.  Hands-on experience developing web based applications 
using HTML, Web 2.0, JavaScript, ColdFusion, AJAX, Web-Services, developing 
XML/XSD. Proven experience with MS SQL Server 2005 and Oracle relational 
databases. (writing complex SQL In-line or in stored procedures) Strong 
analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to re-engineer existing 
applications. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments 
simultaneously, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines. Excellent 
written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

Must be able to obtain a favorable Public Trust (NAC). 

Position 2:
The mid level Computer Programmer/Developer will participate in the software 
development activities required to support the Base Telephone Office (BTO) / 
IT/IM Billing System, as well as current and new requirements and initiatives.  
The developer will work closely with other IT/IM Team members to stay current 
on technologies and software standards. Primary responsibilities include new 
development and maintenance of existing applications. 

•     Provide analysis and programming support to BTO / IT/IM Billing System 
application 
•     Familiarity with components of CF Administrator.  
•     Create and resolve issues with invalid database elements (SQL queries, 
views, triggers, functions, processes and procedures).
•     Perform analysis on the current data model and existing complex 
database packages and stored procedures.
•     Perform requirements analysis and detailed requirements specifications.
•     Analyze and resolve application errors, including log files for CF and 
system generated application error emails.
•     Daily verification that application is accessible and functioning 
correctly.
•     Manage and track Software Change Requests (SCR).
•     Complete the development activities assigned by the Project or 
Technical Lead of the team, from requirements definition through to delivery 
depending on the project.
•     Provide weekly and monthly inputs of status of projects to Project Team 
lead to be used for Task Order weekly and monthly reports.
•     Attend scheduled team meetings and provide summary of work 
accomplished, work still outstanding, and problems/issues encountered.  
Document work and hours performed in Help Desk Automation Tool (HEAT).
•     Support beta-testing of new applications and SCRs by providing 
technical support and guidance on the application.
•     Perform other duties as assigned. 

 
EDUCATION:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering, 
or a HS diploma. With a Bachelor’s, 4 years of experience. With a high school 
diploma, 8 years of experience.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
This position needs solid knowledge of the Software Development Life-Cycle 
(SDLC) to support development efforts, to include requirements gathering, 
documentation, and other duties to perform SDLC activities.  This requires 
experience working in a fast moving, team-oriented environment. This position 
requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  Qualified 
candidate needs a firm understanding of software configuration management tools 
(such as: Borland Star Team, Visual Source Safe, or any enterprise level 
version control system), as well as development of web-based software 
applications and databases in general.

Experience in developing web based applications using:
•     ColdFusion (CF) 8 or greater, 3+ years
•     SQL Server or other relational database experience, 3+ years
•     SQL query, 3+ years
•     JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Web Standards, Web Services, AJAX, Front-End 
Design, Dreamweaver, TOAD. 
•     508 Compliance
•     Must have solid experience with relational databases; database design, 
modeling, PL/SQL, development and SQL reporting using to develop stored 
procedures and triggers.
•     C++, Java, and Oracle 10G or greater experience a plus.
•     Experience with other web application languages a plus (.NET, PHP, 
Ruby).

Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential for this 
position as the developer will be required to work with other teams, end users 
and directly with government and military customers.
