Just to let you know, it would be easy to add "PSU" to the UDUNITS
database.  I know that many oceanographers would cringe at this, but if
its definition was "1e-3", then the PSU "unit" would merely be a
placeholder for that dimensionless number -- and an indicator that the
Practical Salinity Scale (PSS) was used.

Upendra, is this acceptable?
