Our server has sporadic slowtimes and then it speeds up. Originally I thought
it was the server but the HTML files work fine when the CFM files go slow. I
think this is actually a database issue. My educated guess is that there are
too many connections to the database and this slows down the CFM pages. I was
fooling around on the server (after trying many things to solve the problem)
and went into the datasources section in the Coldfusion Administrator. I
checked off "-- Suspend all client connections" and then went back in there and
unchecked it. Once I return to the server, everything was fast again.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can optimize this or what settings I can
change so that this doesnt happen??? I am connecting to a SQL database and the
database is NOT on the same box. Also, is there anyway I can tell how many
active database connections there are?

Thanks in advance,
Vik
