Its fine, But you might want to make note that most of the time your database will have a username and password.
Also if you plan on inserting UTF8 data inot mySql you need a few extra settings that you don't need for MS SQL. The first time this happend to me it took a long time to work out. Sean Corfield made a past about it so I thought I'd link it here aswell. http://corfield.org/blog/index.cfm/do/blog.entry/entry/How_many_pieces_are_t here_in_the_UTF8_puzzle Paul. -----Original Message----- From: John Barrett [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, May 31, 2009 12:22 AM To: cf-newbie Subject: setting up DB connection with CF & MySQL Hi, I just wrote a tutorial for a friend on my blog: http://blog.meleana.info/?p=447 Can somebody check my blog post on setting this up, and tell me what you think? Should I add anything? Is everything clear? This is meant for a newbie, but he has ColdFusion 8 installed and working. Thanks, Johnny ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Want to reach the ColdFusion community with something they want?
