Actually it can...

Because you would have to be submitting back to the server, the VBA in
the spreadsheet would have to know if this was successful or not. So with
part of the response back to the spreadsheet you could give them the same
reference that why would normally receive if they had used a web form
instead, the only difference in this approach is that they are not entering
the information in a web form.

But the information is still being sent back to the server for further
processing.
