I had mine set to 10 too, but the trouble with that is, by the time you hit
10 (if you have 2 processors) unresponsive thread counts the server is
already having major performance problems. We cut down the number and it
restarted the services before the problem became too apparent to the users.

One of the suggestions that has been posted on the Allaire Forums is to make
the "Limit simultaneous requests to X" number more than "Restart at X
unresponsive requests" in Server settings. They also suggest that the X of
"Limit simultaneous requests to X" be 5 for every processor that your
machine has. So if you have one processor, set them to 5 and 4
respectively.

Greetings,

Twice in the past 24 hours our web server has become very sluggish, because
ColdFusion was eating up all of the CPU. Stopping and starting the server
cures the problem. How can I isolate what might be causing this? If that is
not possible, is there some kind of script that can detect the problem and
start and stop CF?

This has happened in the past also. At those times I was on the cf-talk
list, because I wasn't aware of this list. My requests for help went
unanswered. Hopefully, that will change here.

Thanks in advance.

Alf
