Thanks for both responses!
Stephenie-
1. We are running CF Professional, but yes we are hosting multiple sites as
far as IIS is concerned. Hopefully this is what you mean.
2. Yes, we are running Windows 2000 SP1, but I doubt we have installed it
with the ODBC fix. How can I find out? I will ask our server admin tommorow,
hopefully they know.
3. Again, I am not completely sure on the MDAC version, although I doubt it.
I will check tommorow when I can get back to the server.
Aaron-
For our old server, we originally purchased ColdFusion 4.0, then the upgrade
to 4.5. When we installed it on our new server, we installed the entire
package from the upgrade CD (it asks for both serial numbers). Perhaps we
should try reinstalling from a non-upgrade CD?
------
I believe I have narrowed down the problem: It appears to occur when talking
with a MS SQL Server 7 server, although I cannot be sure it doesn't occur
elsewhere. We are running the connection through ODBC, so I will definitely
check the data access components tommorow, and upgrade if necessary. Just
now, I was checking the server. After a few page requests, I got a "just in
time compilation error, unknown parser error." The server locked up for a
few minutes, but seems to be okay now.
Thanks for all of your advice! I will get back with you tommorow morning
regarding the specifics I mentioned. If anyone else has any pointers, we'll
try anything! :)

norm, a few questions:
1) are multiple sites hosted on the same server?
2) if you are running win2k w/sp1, have you installed cf sp1 with the odbc
fix?
3) have you installed mdac 2.6?
