If money and time aren't an issue then it really doesn't matter, I suppose.
Cf, I believe has a shorter (vastly) learning curve than JSP or the like.
But again if time is of no concern J2EE would be something nice to know. I
was just reading an article that kind of pointed to many people holding off
on the Java thing until the next rev mid next year if I recall correctly.
The article was in Application Development Trends October issue.
I know that doesn't directly answer the question, but hopefully it puts a
little perspective on it.

Can anyone out there tell me why I should use Cold Fusion instead of J2EE?
Medium size project, oracle db. Money not really an issue and neither is
time.

Isn't this kind of a general question? I mean this is basic SQL and Database
knowledge?
What kind of db are you using?

Subject: getting datatype information for the columns in a query
Greetings,
How do I access the names of different columns in a CF query object?
How do I get information about their datatypes?
regards,
Pinkesh
