Hello. We have an older Sparc that we are using as a development box. Our
main objective is to test
the Merant driver. For the most part the server does well in testing with
minimal loads. However the
server does shut down inexplicably at times. Nothing in the cf logs seems to
give an indication of what is
happening. The only other odd behaviour is that verity indexing of flat
files seems to take an unnecessarily long time.

I have a few questions and I apologize if any of this sounds stupid or if
there is something real obvious I have missed or should be doing. My
background is slanted more toward web development not server set up and
administration.

1) Is there anything obviously wrong with this set up? Do we have enough
memory? Are the processors fast enough?
2) What are people's experience with the Merant SQL server driver?
3) What should I be looking for in trying to determine why CF Server shuts
down once or twice daily.

Specifications:

Sun Sparc20
Dual Ross 90MHz Processors
Solaris 8 108528-09
512Mb of RAM

Merant's built in SQL driver (connects to an NT server w/ sql server)
ColdFusion 5.0
apache 1.3.20

Respectfully,

Chris Roberts
