The person to whom you responded, Jochem, is the most knowledgeable CF
person I know. And he's quite helpful. So, your reaction is quite
unwarranted - when asking for help, you can at least observe the customs of
the people who can help you. Those customs exist for a reason.

That said, with regard to your original question, you'll simply need to open
the requisite ports on your border gateway/firewall to your database server,
and make the connections from your CF Administrator. Your CF hosting
provider shouldn't have to do anything too special. Of course, this is a
terribly bad idea, since it will severely degrade performance and security.
