Hello, list!

Fusion Trio Inc (F3I) has begun an Open Source initiative that I
think you guys and girls might be interested in. It's called
"FuseObjects", and it is an Open Source API definition that allows
developers to do one of two things: To code (or use, in prepackaged
form) a FuseObjects-aware application that will support the use of
FuseObjects, and to code the FuseObjects themselves.

FuseObjects is not meant to replace the variety of coding practices
and standards currently in use by Cold Fusion developers.
FuseObjects may be written using any common or proprietary
methodology, may be encrypted, or may even be shell scripts or Visual
Basic applications. The important part of a FuseObject is its
interface, the way in which the FuseObject “exposes” its inner
workings. It's not a replacement for Fusebox or CFObjects, and in
fact, works within those methodologies quite well.

The main purpose of the FuseObjects API is to create a standard
interface between a CFML application or function and the application
that is accessing that function. FuseObjects can only become a
successful API if developers support it – that is why we are making
the API, the "Host Application" (a generic FuseObjects-aware
application that will support, through a complex administration and
end-user interface, any FuseObject that conforms to the FuseObjects
standard API), along with a small library of “starter” or “standard”
FuseObjects Open Source and available to everyone. To further this
project, we are seeking experienced Cold Fusion developers who would
like to volunteer their time and knowledge to the FuseObjects effort.
For more information about contributing to the FuseObjects Open
Source efforts, please visit the FuseObjects SourceForge project
page:

- From there, you may download an initial revision of the FuseObjects
documentation, as well as join the FuseObjects mailing lists, take
surveys, file bug reports and ... when the first pieces are release,
download live code directly from the CVS tree hosted at SourceForge.

We, of course, welcome any discussion in relation to the FuseObjects
API, as long as those discussions generate light and not heat. :) We
would love to hear your ideas, your suggestions, your bug reports and
your feedback in general. Please give it a look and tell us what you
think.

Thanks in advance for your time,

Dustin Miller, President
Fusion Trio Inc (F3I)
