IE 5 seem to have a 2048 char limit from my quick little test just now ...

But i also would like to know the limits because i asked this same question
recently on irc .. with lots of guess's and no real clues.

|
| This is not correct. Max URL length varies by browser.
| There used to be a browser capability table at:
|
| Unfortunately, this link is now dead. If anyone knows where
| this excellent resource went, or has a copy of it, I'd love to
| see it.
|
| At any rate, I remember very clearly from that document that
| max URL length varies from 512 (early AOL) to 8096 (Netscape).
|
| It would not be too hard to construct a script to test this
| for yourself, naturally.
|
| In the absence of Open Market's capability table, I'd say
| take the conservative approach and limit query strings to
| 512 characters.
