As a beta tester of cf4.x.x, it was planned to remove the RDS tab and place
it where they have now. There was a huge up roar in the beta stages about
this. Developers tried to explain that it made more sense to leave it as a
tab for this exact reason.
As for the save as, this is a known problem in 4.x.x and it seems to be one
that is different across workstations. For example during the beta stages I
complained about this not working, yet the RC before actual release had it
fixed on my system. However after a new reinstall of my OS and reinstall of
the applications has seen this return, I once did receive an email
explaining how to get around this but for the life of me I can't recall the
email.
I agreed on issue 1, and as a developer it made more sense to have a tab to
make it easier to flick back and forth, however there was a technical reason
that it was removed, and again I don't recall the reason why.
Maybe someone else can clarify this even more.

Loretta, in regard to issue #1, take a look at the new project management
features. You can set up a project with links to both local and remote
directories which will then appear on the same tab; this should make
switching back and forth between local and remote directories even easier
than it was with the old system.
